History of the Program
In 2009, Cyprus’s first-aid visionary Mr. Marios Kaisis set out to prove that no one is too young to be a hero by launching Europe’s first free pilot program for teaching lifesaving skills to children. Originally known as “Kids in Saving Lives,” it debuted six years before the ERC’s “Kids Save Lives” initiative. Partnering with Mr. Kostas Xampiaouris (then Principal of Saint Panteleimona Elementary in Limassol and later Minister of Education), he guided 100 bright elementary students through playful, hands-on “First Steps of First Aid,” covering CPR, choking relief, and more.
As the program blossomed, Mr.Kaisis recognized a deeper social truth, with many parents, leading demanding lives, grandparents have become our family’s unsung everyday heroes. Reimagined as Grannies and Kids, our workshops invite grandparents and children to learn side-by-side, sharing laughter, stories, and lifesaving skills.
Delivered entirely free to schools, kindergartens, companies, and community groups across Cyprus, this intergenerational adventure weaves family bonds into a resilient safety net. Join us and feel the joy of turning moments of uncertainty into acts of courage, together.
